
Melissa Crystal O'Neil, born on July 12, 1988[1], is a Canadian actor and singer from Canada. O'Neil, the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's season 3 finale, was the winner in 2005. As an actress, she is famous for her performances as Two / Rebecca and Portia Lin in the Syfy science fiction series Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama The Rookie.Although she was widely praised by judges, O'Neil was a victim of massive setbacks both in the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals since she was placed in both the third and fourth places in both the bottom three and bottom two. In shock, the judges urged viewers to vote for contestants such as Melissa who was clearly a singer with the highest vocal ability. O'Neil was praised for her performances and she didn't drop to the bottom three. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the whole competition. The 7th of September, 2005 O'Neil made it to the final two spots of the competition, alongside Rex Goudie, and after yet more stunning performances and performances, judge Werner famously announced that the headlines in the next day's news would read "The King, Kalan Porter has passed away, long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand finale results showon September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005. She also was crowned the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
